Some Random Sports Thoughts

With the Houston Texans having lost DB Marcus Coleman in last week's game against the New York Jets and rookie DB Donta Robinson still learning the ropes, is there any doubt the Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning will run roughshod and break Dan Marino's single season TD passes record at Reliant Stadium.

It's hard to imagine that one player will make or break the Houston Astros next season, but the inability to re-sign 2B Jeff Kent has to put doubts in the minds of Astros fans and season ticket-holders. CF Carlos Beltran and his super agent Scott Boras can't be encouraged by this nor does either of those two things bode well for RHP Roger Clemens to belt out another year (delaying his certain entrance to Baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York).

Best wishes to the
Spring Westfield High School football team in the UIL Class 5A, Division I state championship game on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. (Tough to say coming from a Spring High alum, class of 1984.) Additionally, kudos to the Sam Houston State Bearkats in their NCAA Division 1-AA semifinal matchup on Saturday with Montana. Great story. Ron Randleman's a good guy who could have gone elsewhere over the years, but does a great job in Huntsville.
